Violet Marsh: Demystifying Legal Concepts for Writers

This course seeks to take the “mystery” out of legal terms by showing the audience how they can harness the skills they’ve already developed as writers to identify and weigh business risks. With the goal of giving participants a more general understanding of the contracts they encounter, Violet will break down common legal terms.

Violet will next discuss typical industry agreements, including: agency contracts, publishing contracts, contracts with vendors (i.e. cover art, stock photos, author photos), and contracts with virtual assistants.  She will review how they should work, what pitfalls may lurk within them, and when and how these documents may terminate.

This course will not constitute legal advice or form an attorney-client relationship.  Participants should still seek legal counsel for review of contracts.
