Lydia Stevens: The Pandemonium of a Pantser, Making the Manuscript out of the Madness
The Pandemonium of a Panster is a workshop designed to help pantsers, people who write by the seat of their pants, to organize and develop clarity in their manuscripts. Everyone has different writing styles, and pantsing can be overwhelming and chaotic to write and edit, but it doesn’t have to be. In this workshop, I will take you through several steps to create order and direction with your manuscript. Pantsing doesn’t always follow a linear direction of writing like a well-defined outline a plotter might utilize. Still, there are several strategies a panster can use to craft their best possible manuscript.
This workshop will not only provide a skillset for pantsers to use when honing their craft but also explains why pantsing can be beneficial to some writers. Additionally, I demonstrate through several exercises how to employ those skills and name several well-known authors who are pantsers so that you can feel confident in the knowledge that pantsing is a thrilling, fun ride to crafting your manuscript!
Lydia Stevens is the Acquisitions Editor of Urano Publishing, an imprint of Urano World Inc., a freelance Developmental Editor and award-winning Author. Having completed her Bachelor and Master’s Degrees in Creative Writing and English, she then pursued an internship with a literary agency, Creative Media Agency, and Anthem Press, an academic press based in London. Lydia is currently enrolled in the PhD program at Union Institute and University, pursuing a doctorate degree in Humanities and Culture with a specialty in Creative Writing and Women and Gender Studies. When Lydia is not working on projects in the publishing industry, she enjoys spending time in her home taking care of her two “children,” her eleven-year-old son and her 88-year-old grandmother, along with her two cats, Sherlock Holmes and Sirius Black, and the newest addition to her family, her border collie mix, Savior.
